If u haven't already heard, I was back from the lovely Bangkok about a week ago but due to the kick-ass outings that I've been having I was unable to fill up my faithful readers on what has been taking place in the QUEEN OF INSANITY'S life!

Bangkok was oh-so-wonderful and u gotta believe me when I say that! It was such a shame that Deepa had to return back to school the following week or we'd definitely have stayed there a little longer and shopped till we literally dropped. Now I know why they call Bangkok city, the 'shopping haven'. It certainly lives up to its name,I tell you.

The very first day was spent visiting some Buddhist temples, Hindu temples and dinner at Silom Village where u get to watch the Thai girls do their traditional dance while u savor the Thai delicacies at your own pace. Fantastic wld be undermining the real taste of the food. It was definitely way beyond description. The second day was filled with shopping, massage, spa, a trip down the Chao Praya River, which brings u to places such as the Emerald Buddha Palace, The Floating Market and more of such places of interest (those names are a mouthful so please pardon my inability to remember such details). And finally, the third day was filled with more shopping before we packed and headed back to our expensive country!

While I was over at Bangkok, I noticed quite a few things that got me thinking. Despite the fact, that out of every five people I saw down the street two were transsexuals, despite the massive traffic conditions at almost all times of the day, despite the fly crowding road side stalls, despite the busy-ness of the day, despite the differences in religion, race or color amongst the various individuals almost all the Thai nationals had a smile on their faces which seemed to shout out a pleasant 'hi', 'hello' or 'welcome to our country' or a polite 'sawasdeeka' (yes, it has a 's' in it. It's not 'sawadeeka') and that was something you hardly ever see in our country anymore. Now isn't that a shame?

I mean, we're a lot privileged in ways more than one over here, yet we can't seem to be able to manage a smile to a fellow neighbour, a passer by who nodded knowingly at you, the bus-driver who sends us to school safely each morning, the taxi uncle who dashes past red lights just so u can get to work on time when u casually mention that u're actually late, the janitor who keeps the toilets in clean, hygienic conditions just so that u could use it without disgust and I could go and on given the list but I shall stop here since u would have probably grasped my point by now.
Yes, Bangkok is a developing country, it still has a long way to go before it reaches the standards of Singapore yet it has something that we, don't possess. Friendly citizens. In that sense,I think Thailand is richer than Singapore. Much, much richer…

Given a chance, I'd definitely go back to Thailand, maybe this time to other parts, for a holiday once again and maybe, u should too.
