2nd December' 2005

Yes! Finally the long awaited gals' day out with none other than the bold Sree, beautiful Renu and alluring Lavi!

If I was to describe the madness, fun, delightful conversation, great food, wonderful company, crazy neo print session, sinful dessert moments in just mere sentences, I certainly would not be doing our outing any justice but then again, I am equipped with words and words alone to capture the astounding moments and I shall put my writing abilities at its best today.

Or,at least I will try to.

Met up at Raffles place at 6 pm and the only 2 souls who were on time, were Lavi & myself. Hehe! Sree was only a little late and Renu, our princess, though was much later than the 3 of us, had a very good reason for it so we let her off the hook. Heh! She actually got a stalk of rose for each one of us accompanied by a card, which had a really sweet message in it. How thoughtful!
* kisses for our princess *

Anyway, Lavi brought us around couple of good places to eat and we finally decided on having western tt night. While waiting for the food to arrive, we caught up on all the lost time and had our fair share of updating done. Enlightening conversation, indeed.

At one point of time, I noticed the lady at the table next to us, watching us without a blink of an eye and wondered just what was so fascinating in us that she had to stare for tt long. When she refused to look away, I told the rest of them that she was looking and our wonderful Lavi, decided to look back at her so that she'll look away at least then. No, she didn't and so, in the end we concluded that we were too irresistible for her to stop staring!

After dinner, we took a cab to Cineleisure for a crazy neo-print session and please believe me when I say crazy. Although a certain part of me wants to deny the fact that we almost terrorized the place, the sane side of me knows very well that that was what we exactly did. All the ooos and aaahs, the shouting and the high-pitched laughter. You get my point. But hey, we had a ball of a time and there were absolutely no regrets! Once the neo print session was over and done with, we proceeded on for dessert and continued with our conversation. And before we knew it, it was time to leave.

The queue for the taxi outside Taka was really long and all of us had exceeded our curfew except for Renu I think and finally we called for a cab. Right in front of us, there was this Chinese lady who was so annoying I could have bitten her ear off. She was a bloody racist and even the slightest brushes from either one of us made her turn around and stare and for a moment, I was seriously contemplating slapping her right across her face!

It's really disturbing to know that the older generations still are racists against other races, especially us, the Indians. Why, even a few people of my generation tend to speak ill of my colour and my descent. I have had people who come up to me and say 'I never knew Indians could be nice people and odour-free until I knew you. Sorry to say but I have this perception that Indians are quite stupid, smell terrible and are dirty!' And I go like 'What the fuck?'

I have endured such shit ever since primary school. There was a girl in my bus who refused to sit next to me because I was a different shade from her and she made all the other fellow Chinese friends stay away from me. I was affected by it so much so that I refused to go to school the following day and dad had to come down to school to scold that girl. Now I wish I could have slapped her as well.

In secondary school, the guys used to make fun of all the Indians in my class, branding us into 3 different colour categories. The darker ones were kopi-o and the mildly dark ones were kopi. Even my fair Indian friends got made fun of. They were either milo or horlicks. All my life I have encountered such rude remarks about my race that at one point of time I really hated the fact that I was an Indian. But along the way, in poly I met wonderful Chinese people who embraced me and my culture with a genuine interest and were willing to look at me beyond my colour, to foster a friendship so true and slowly I started being proud of who I was, am and will be. I'm glad I met such true souls in my life; otherwise I would have stereotyped all Chinese to be racists.

So at this point of time, I'd like to thank all my wonderful Chinese friends who have accepted me for who I am and will be; U guys are the best - Hazel, Eunice, Charlotte, Xueling, Melissa, Rosenna, Jeremy, Yanxia, Edwin, Shirlene, Mui Hua, Fanny, Hui Min, Hongyan, Jeanette, Lynette, Minghui, Joanna and Esther.

There are more, but these are the closer ones and I truly appreciate the goodness u guys posses. Big hug!

Right, sorry for deviating from the main highlight of the entry. Sometimes when u recollect about past events, new issues are always raised and it's during these times that I form a new idea to blog about that something. Pardon me on that.

So, finally the first cab arrived, in which Sree left and the second one came minutes later, which was shared by Lavi, Renu and myself. I really didn't want the night to end for it had been such a long time since I had that much of fun with the girls but then again, as they say - all good things come to an end and so did that beautiful day. But I knew one thing for sure. That night, we had all formed a bond which was going to remain intact for what seems like donkey years and I’m glad that we decided to do what we did on that very day. I love each and every one of you guys and thank u so much for opening up, for sharing the intimate details of your life, above all thank you for the trust. Muacks!
