10th Dec 2005

The annual 'Renga's Clan' outing! Ok, it's not been held annually but it's gonna be a start from now on. U see, we call the cousins from my maternal side the 'Renga's Clan' cos our granpa dearest's name is Rengasamy. Hehehe, so now you know!

Raj anna rented a 7-seater for the day, so that we cld cruise along the whole of Singapore that night. The day started off with Senthil anna, Raj anna and Aruna (Raj's gf) coming to fetch both my sister and I, also adoringly addressed as the "Lakeside Sisters" (anjack sounding names given by our endearing cousins bros) to the Esplanade. Sivan and Kumaran were meeting us there, itself. The car ride was so much fun that I didn't even wanna do anything else. Music blasting, cousins dancing in the car, so much of talk and laughter!

Anyway, we stopped at Marina, had a game of bowling where Sivan, Aruna ka and myself were thrashed really badly by the other trio (Kumaran was yet to join us. He was still in camp). After that, we had some fun in the arcade and finally got our asses for dinner.

Delicious!! All the feeding in between cooking, soup tasting, pigging out - needless to say, was awesome. By the time dinner was over, it was almost 9 plus and Raj anna and his gf decided to bring us to 'Brew Werks' for dessert. Seems that the place had a very cosy ambience and so we drove down to Clarke Quay. You bet they were right, indeed, the place was beautiful tho we only got to sit outside due to the crowd that night. Kumaran joined us finally and that was when the real fun began. That guy is a born joker and no outing w/o him is ever memorable.

Oh and how can I forget? Christopher Lee, together with a few other veteran actors and actresses was seated only 2 tables away from us. Sivan tried capturing a discreet picture of him but couldn't unfortunately. I must say, he looks better in real life than reel life.

The ride back home was hilarious. Kumaran was being a pig, singing songs to passerbys on the road, then Raj anna had a wicked idea of blasting the radio with tamil songs and driving past Serangoon Rd which happened eventually and Kumaran sang 'gundu maanga thopokuleh' to some fat indian lady who was crossing the road. I seriously thought we gonna get spit at. Thank god, we didn't!

At one point of time, when we were waiting for the lights to turn green, Kumaran stuck his head out of the roof (it had a roof which cld be opened) of the car and did a 'MGR' impersonation to all the other cars on the road and I was overcome by such disbelief I cringed! Wondered which guy was gonna call the police, claiming there was this car which was carrying a few young, drunk punks. Obviously we weren't but we definitely were behaving that way. H-A-V-O-C

Anyway, the night ended with all of them coming over to my place for a awhile, a few more photo-taking sessions and bidding adios! Had such great fun and as they say - blood is definitely thicker than water!
